GUWAHATI: In view of upcoming Autumn Session of Assam Legislative Assembly (ALA) commencing from August 31 and to avoid large scale spread of COVID-19 in the office premises of the Secretariat, all officers, staff including Gr-IV employees have been requested to go through Rapid Antigen Test for COVID-19 on August 28 and 29 from 11 am onwards. The tests will be organized by the Health Department in the Conference Hall of the GNB Bhawan of Assam Legislative Assembly, said ALA principal secretary MK Deka.

Talking to the mediapersons, Deka said the journalists who will cover the Assembly Session will have to go through the tests.

When asked about the testing of the MLAs, he said the members have not yet reached Guwahati yet and a separate notice will be issued for them to conduct the antigen tests. Currently, the ALA has decided that only 50 per cent of the MLAs will be allowed to attend the sessions in one time. It is to be noted, while several MLAs have tested positive for COVID-19, many have recovered.
