COVID-19 vaccination camp held at LGBI Airport Guwahati

The AAI (Airports Authority of India) in association with the ‘National Health Mission, Assam’ organised a COVID-vaccination camp at the Guwahati Airport on Sunday.

GUWAHATI: The AAI (Airports Authority of India) in association with the 'National Health Mission, Assam' organised a COVID-vaccination camp at the Guwahati Airport on Sunday.

The vaccination camp was meant for the person 45 years and above and was also opened for all family members of the employees of AAI, airlines, agencies, frontline staffs and the stakeholders associated with the LGBI Airport Guwahati.

Over 300 people had registered themselves for the vaccination on first day. However officials coordinating the camp said, "If Health officials of NHM continues the drive and our staffs are still left to be vaccinated, we may continue the camp next day also.Till 6 pm today more than 108 of the registered employees were vaccinated."

Chief coordinator of the COVID-vaccination camp, Ganapati Das, Jt GM, AAI said, "We had invited all our stakeholders above the age of 45 years to register for covid 19 vaccination and around 300 people have registered. We are thankful to the State Health officials and NHM staff for their nobel cause and their services during this pandemic.

"It was a well-coordinated camp where all our parties cooperated. Help desk was also set up to streamline the process. I on behalf of Airports Authority of India extend sincere thanks to all concerned.

"We earlier coordinated with the National Health Mission and together it was planning to conduct a Vaccination Camp at LGBI Airport, Guwahati for all stake holders including Airlines Ground Handling Agencies/ Staff Officers and others working an retired employees at LGBI Airport who are above 45 yrs of age."

In view of the above, all the stakeholders were requested to forward the names and designation of their staff and officers who are above the age of 45 years and internal registration desk was constituted.

Most of the staff working at the airport are vulnerable and faces different categories passengers coming from various parts of the country. In view of the recent surge in the number of registered Coronavirus cases in the country, it was needed and indeed a big relief for all employees especially the Operations department people at the airport.

Meanwhile, COVID tests are regularly being continued at the airport for all incoming passengers and special screening is for the passengers coming from the States where COVID-19 cases are higher in the country including Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Punjab and Delhi.

"The AAI at Guwahati is following all COVID-related guidelines and ensuring that passengers embarking and disembarking from the Airport are also adhering to the guidelines laid by the Government. All the baggage are sanitised and we also have a UV X-ray screening facility of the luggage before entering the airport. The daily average passenger footfall at LGBI Airport these days is above 10k per day with 100 flight movements," stated a release.
