GUWAHATI: A cultural event was organised in the premises of the Pragjyoti ITA Cultural Complex located in the Machkhowa region of Guwahati to highlight several problems prevalent in society through dance performances.

Named Panchavaktram, the event was attended by several dignitaries. The students of the School of Performing Arts and Indic Studies of REVA University showcased their talents in this event. With an aim to emphasize the need to stop the wastage of natural resources and considering man and woman as yin and yang to each other, the production aimed at showcasing rare stories from medieval tests depicting the harmonious marriage of the five elements: Bhoomi, Jal, Agni, Vayu and Akash. The same elements are manifestations of Shiva's five forms: Sadyojata, Vamadeva, Aghora, Tatpurusha and Eshana which were represented in dance form.

The team used Mohiniyattam to showcase the creation of the earth with the embodiment of Sadyojata and derives Bhoomi with the help of Parvati. Odissi Dance was used to represent the second element Jal personified by their version of Vamadeva and the existence of Ganga. The Ahora side of Lord Shiva was represented through Bharatnatyam. The Tatpurusha embodiment of Tatva Vayu was presented with Kuchipudi emphasizing that without it, the other elements cannot survive, finally culminating into the last act of portrayal of Eshana, Shiva's fifth form that manifests Akash. The universe that reverberates with the sound of Om emanated first from Shiva's drum and this quintessential fact from Indian mythology was presented by a Kathak presentation.

The Chancellor of REVA University and the Director of its School of Performing Arts and Indic Studies were also present for this event.
