GUWAHATI: Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Dakshin Kamrup College, Mirza organized an international webinar on "Global Vs Local Brands: The issue of Sustainability and Materialism" on July 31.

Dr Nabanita Talukdar, Faculty of Hult International Business School, San Francisco, USA joined the webinar as a resource person. The webinar was inaugurated by Dr Chandana Goswami, Professor, School of Management Sciences, Tezpur University. Dr Nabajyoti Das, Principal, Dakshin Kamrup College, Mirza offered the welcome address. In her beautifully rendered speech Dr Talukdar opened the discussion by focusing on a few behavioural changes witnessed among Indian consumers during COVID-19. She compared it with a few unique purchase behaviours witnessed in USA.

Dr Nabanita Talukdar described the key characteristics of global luxury brands and explained how local brands originating from the North East India can go global. She also talked about certain positive unique consumer perceptions which can be associated with the local brands originating out of the region.

Based on her ongoing research on 'Sustainability and Materialism', she shared some key research findings which can be used by the local brands. She closed the deliberation by sharing managerial implications for the local brands of Assam and the North East India. After the lecture, an interactive session was held where Dr. Talukdar answered different questions asked by the participants. Vote of thanks was given by Barnali Kalita, lecturer, department of Political Science. Manabendra Kalita and Barnali Kalita did the task of technical support for the webinar. Dr Gargee Chakraborty, Coordinator, Internal Quality Assurance Cell, Dakshin Kamrup College, Mirza was the moderator of the webinar. Dr. Chakraborty offered her sincere thanks to all for the smooth completion of the webinar, stated a release. This webinar was the second of the series of four International webinars to be organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the college.
