GUWAHATI: A dead turtle was recovered from the Dighalipukhuri in Guwahati. It was recovered after people complained about a foul smell coming from a part of the pond. Local people mentioned that this heritage site of the city has been neglected and there has been no cleaning or maintenance for a long time, which could be a possible reason for the death of the animal.
Meanwhile, the Energy and Research Institute (TERI), which has the responsibility of maintaining the Dighalipukhuri, stated that they have not been able to carry out the treatment of the water in the pond because of the continuous rains.
