Debabrata Saikia seeks Assam Legislative Assembly session in August

Leader of the Opposition in the ALA Debabrata Saikia has urged Speaker Biswajit Daimary to consider holding the Summer Session of the House within August.

GUWAHATI: Leader of the Opposition in the Assam Legislative Assembly (ALA) Debabrata Saikia has urged Speaker Biswajit Daimary to consider holding the Summer Session of the House within August.

In a letter to the Speaker dated today, Saikia mentioned that as per the 13th edition of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in Assam Legislative Assembly, sessions of the House should be held at least thrice a year. He also mentioned that a decision had been taken at a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) of the ALA on September 24, 2018 to hold the Budget Session in February-March, the Summer Session in August and the Winter Session in December.

As such, Saikia requested the Speaker to consider holding the Summer Session of the House in August in line with the decision taken earlier by the BAC.
