GUWAHATI: The Kamrup (Metropolitan) district administration has issued a slew of instructions to ensure peaceful celebrations of New Year’s Eve on December 31. Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu told The Sentinel on Friday evening that five to six teams comprising magistrates, police and Excide department officials will visit different places particularly hotels, bars, restaurants, dhabas and resorts to see that they do not violate rules in the name of new year’s revellery. Pegu said bars which have normal timing licenses, will have to close their business for customers by 10 pm. Bars which have late night licences, will have to close by 12 in the night, he said.
“Music with high decibel will be allowed as per the Supreme Court’s instruction,” he said.
Besides the traffic officials and personnel, the officials from District Transport Office will take steps to prevent drivers from violating traffic rules on December 31 and January 1.
