GUWAHATI: The Save Industry Save Workers Joint Struggle Committee Assam staged a dharna at Guwahati Club on Friday upholding various demands.
Submitting a memorandum to the Chief Minister and the Central Industry Minister, the committee insisted on the reopening of the Nagaon and Cachar paper mills. “The scam of Rs 4,141 crore of the paper mills should be investigated by the FBI,” the memorandum read. Moreover, stalled salary since the past 33 months of the employees was demanded to be cleared instantly along with securing education and health benefits of the family members of such workers.
The committee further demanded that the tea workers are provided with the 20 percent bonus before the Durga puja festival. They further demanded that casual workers of the APDCL are made permanent and privatization stopped along with modernization of the Namrup Fertilizer Complex.
