GUWAHATI: The Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup Metropolitan District, Pallav Gopal Jha, chaired two key review meetings in his office today.
The first was to review the developments regarding the "Mission Flood Free Guwahati," wherein he took stock of the status of the cleaning of the waterways, including desiltation of the drainage system. With the monsoons just around the corner, the district administration is taking all possible steps to prevent urban flooding this year. This meeting was attended by Mrigen Sarania, Mayor of Guwahati Municipal Corporation, Chief Executive Officer of Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority, Commissioner of Guwahati Municipal Corporation, and officials of several departments, including the Public Works Department and the Water Resources Department.
Another meeting that took place in the Kamrup Metropolitan DC’s office discussed the status of the water supply project in the city, where Pallav Gopal Jha took stock of the level of completion of the project. He is also the Managing Director of the Guwahati Jal Board and has instructed the officials of the department to complete the project as per schedule so that the people of the city get the necessary water at their premises. This meeting was attended by several senior officials, engineers, and contractors from the department.
