Devalaya Sangha workers seek financial help from Government of Assam

GUWAHATI: Sadou Asom Devalaya Sangha (SADS) secretary general Kailash Sarma has sought financial assistance from the State government for the around 2,500 people associated with doul-devalayas in the State who, what he said, have gone broke in the over three-month COVID-19 lockdown.

In a statement issued to the media on Wednesday, Sarma appealed to the Chief Minister and the Finance Minister, "People like priests, mali (gardener), and others of devalayas need financial assistance from the government as they've been suffering from cash crunch for the past four months." Sarma has also appealed to all those associated with douls-devalayas to abide by the COVID-19 guidelines issued by the government."
