DGP GP Singh announces reward for information about absconding police officer

GUWAHATI: Assam Director General of Police GP Singh on Thursday informed that the accused in the Ghograpar Police Station incident in Nalbari, Inspector (Now under suspension) Biman Roy has been at large. He also added that anyone who is able to provide any useful information about his whereabouts will receive suitable rewards.

The DGP mentioned over Twitter, “reference taking of objectionable photo of a young minor at Ghograpar PS Inspector (now under suspension) Biman Roy, former OC Ghograpar PS of Nalbari DEF is prime suspect in Nalbari PS Case No. 287/23 U/S- 354(B)/509 IPC R/W Sec. 12/14(1) of POCSO Act. He is absconding. Anyone providing information to SP Nalbari Police about his whereabouts would be suitably rewarded.”

It may be mentioned, a seventeen-year-old girl had lodged a complaint on June 26 at the Nalbari Police Station that on June 21 she and a male person was brought to the Ghograpar Police Station of Nalbari and one of the Sub Inspectors had sexually assaulted her and taken obscene photographs and gave obscene signals. A case was registered regarding the complaint and was endorsed to a woman Additional Superintendent of Police.

GP Singh also added, “PS has CCTV coverage so action would be taken based on that. If found true, strongest lawful action shall be taken.”
