GUWAHATI: The Assam Rajyik Prathamik Shikshak Sanmilani has alleged that the Directorate of Pension is harassing the teachers who have taken retirement from primary schools. President and general secretary Jiban Chandra Bora and Ratul Chandra Goswami respectively of the Sanmilani are now seeking Education Minister's interference in this matter so that their problems are solved.

The association alleged that for the last one year the teachers are being questioned meaninglessly regarding their grade pay and thus the Directorate is doing nothing to their pension files. The Association alleged that whereas a few teachers are facing harassment, the pension files of a few others of the same level are being granted with the help of an unseen power.

The Association further alleged that a few teachers are asked to return the amount (grade pay) that they've recieved. The association also said that whereas the 4th Pay Commission has already decided the pay band for the trained Matric and Higher Secondary passed teachers and in the 7th Pay Commission the pay band of trained graduate and under graduate teachers was decided, now the Directorate of Pension is questioning the teachers regarding the definition of undergraduate teacher just to harass them. According to the association, the harassment doesn't end here as now the Directorate is returning the pension files of a few teachers by claiming that the recommendation of the Pay Anomaly Committee regarding the teachers' grade pay chart is not available with them.
