Dispur allocates Rs 200 crore for procurement of paddy from State farmers: Minister Atul Bora

The Assam government has allocated Rs 200 crore for the procurement of paddy from farmers in the present fiscal (2021-2022).

GUWAHATI: The Assam government has allocated Rs 200 crore for the procurement of paddy from farmers in the present fiscal (2021-2022). This was revealed by State Agriculture Minister Atul Bora on Wednesday.

Talking to The Sentinel, Minister Bora added, "Our prime aim is to ensure that the paddy farmers of Assam get proper price for their paddy. Hence, the state government has already told the FCI (Food Corporation of India) to procure paddy from the farmers of the State.

He pointed out, "The Assam Agriculture Marketing Board and a few other agencies will also procure paddy from our farmers. Even the Assam government has made a provision of Rs 200 crore for paddy procurement from State peasants."

Providing an overall picture of the paddy production this year, the Minister added, "The drought-like situation affected some farmers in a few districts.
