GUWAHATI: The Koch-Rajbongshi National Convention (KRNC) has raised the demand for the dissolution of the Kamatapur Autonomous Council (KAC) so as to pave the way for its election.
KRNC general secretary Biswajit Rai said that the government had formed the interim KAC for the educational, cultural and socio-economic development of the Koch-Rajbongshis in the undivided Goalpara district. "However, it has come to light that the office-bearers of the KAC are swindling the funds they receive from the government. Even Mumbai and Assam Police arrested two EMs (executive members) of the KAC. It is unfortunate that the government has not yet dissolved the interim KAC after the arrest of two EMs. The government should dissolve the interim KAC, demarcate its constituency and hold the election. And the government should take legal action against the corrupt people in the KAC. The Chief Minister should see that no corrupt KAC-Office-Bearer goes scot-free with political protection."
