Drive to give shelter to destitutes resumes in Guwahati city

The Chief Minister's Office has announced that the district-level task force for relief and rehabilitation of street dwellers has resumed its operations.

GUWAHATI: The Chief Minister's Office has announced that the district-level task force for relief and rehabilitation of street dwellers has resumed its operations. Through this drive, a number of homeless and destitute people were rescued from Ulubari Foot Over Bridge and other nearby areas in the presence of Anurag Rudra, Assistant Commissioner, and other officials.

It can be noted that this task force was started in the past to ensure that the destitute had the arrangement to stay and was paused when the key areas became free of such people. But now that the number of such people is seen to have increased, the Task Force has been ordered to resume their drive.
