GUWAHATI: The DSE (Directorate of Secondary Education), Assam, is preparing the list of the schools to be incuded in the State's proposed 'Heritage' list of educational institutions. These shortlisted schools will be provided financial assistance. This move has been taken as a followup of the Budget promise of the present government.

Talking to The Sentinel, an official of the DSE said on Thursday, "We have already collected the list from the districts. Many schools across the State were established during the British raj; and many other schools are also there which have already crossed 75 years. Al of them are heritage buildings"

The official elaborated, "We have also started to draft the guidelines for this purpose. However, all such schools will not be eligible for the scheme. Various aspects will be taken into account for the school-selection process."

The DSE is also carrying on the school upgradation process. The Inspector of Schools have been directed to furnish the details. The process is expected to be completed by the next academic session.
