Durga Puja naam competition organized in Guwahati

o mark the 134th year of Durga Puja celebration, the Mohila Sakha of Uzanbazar Barowari Puja Mandap organized the 8th Sri Sri Durga Gonsani Mahila Naam competition on Sunday.

 GUWAHATI: To mark the 134th year of Durga Puja celebration, the Mohila Sakha of Uzanbazar Barowari Puja Mandap organized the 8th Sri Sri Durga Gonsani Mahila Naam competition on Sunday. The naam competition was organized in memory of the late Mohini Priya Devi, a pious lady of Chenikuthi.

All together, 12 teams comprising seven members each from greater Guwahati took part in the competition. The first prize of Rs 8,000 goes to Ranu Devi's team of Japorigog, while the second prize of Rs 7,000 and the third prize of Rs 6,000 are received by the teams of Tilo Das of Kanwachal, Silpukhuri, and Ranjita Goswami of Geetanagar, respectively.

The encouragement award of Rs 1,000 was received by Sampritee Mohila Dal of Kharghuli. Along with each amount, the first, second, and third prize winners received one 'sarai, 'gamocha', and seven 'chador' each. The judges of the competition were Anjali Borthakur, Hiranmoyee Goswami, and Anima Borthakur, stated a press release.
