GUWAHATI: In a shocking incident, an elderly person was murdered by unidentified miscreants in the wee hours at Friends Path in Hatigaon on Thursday. The victim is identified as Javed Ali Ahmed (73), who was a retired additional chief engineer of the irrigation department.
According to the police sources, Ahmed was heading to the mosque when he was attacked. In the CCTV footage from a nearby house, two people were seen and suspected of following the elderly person when he was heading to the mosque but they could not be identified. According to the police source, on returning from the mosque, the other people recovered the body and informed the deceased’s family members. Also, an iron rod and a sharp tool, which are used to dig roads, were found near the body. There were injury marks on the deceased’s head and other parts. Javed Ali Ahmed has two wives, one of whom stays in Sijubari and the other in Friends Path.
