EMRI starts mobile veterinary units through toll-free call centre

 GUWAHATI: The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, flagged off the Mobile Veterinary Units from Guwahati and formally launched the project. As of June 13, all 181 Mobile Veterinary Units had reached the different districts of Assam. The Minister of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, Atul Bora, along with Principal Secretary to the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, Manish Thakur, and Javir Rahul Suresh, Director of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, dialled the first, second and third Calls on the 1962 Toll Free Number and officially started off the operations of the 1962 (Toll Free) Centralized Call Centre and field operations of the Mobile Veterinary Units on July 1.

Emergency Management and Research Institute (EMRI) Green Health Services (formerly known as GVK EMRI) has been operating the 108- ‘Mrityunjay’ Ambulance Service in the state of Assam for the last 14+ years. Now, as per a tender process, EMRI Green Health Services has been awarded the contract to operate 181 MVUs’ through the 1962 Toll-Free Number across all districts of Assam.

Farmers and livestock owners can call the 1962 Toll-Free Number at any time during the day, and their calls will be attended by the Call centre Executives based in the Centralized Call centre at Guwahati. Veterinary Doctors based at the Centralized Call centre will advise the livestock owners and guide them on the care procedures and requisite medicines to cure the disease of the animal in distress if the disease is non-critical and curable at home or on site. It is to further highlight that the Service that will be provided will be completely free of charge to the citizens and livestock owners in the State of Assam., stated a press release.
