GUWAHATI: The AASU (All Assam Students Union) has stated that before taking any decision on holding various examinations in the educational institution premises, the managements of those institutions must first ensure that the health of students are not affected in the process.

Talking to the media on Saturday, AASU president Dipanka Kumar Nath said, "Gauhati University should take a decision on the mode of examination before it is too late. If other States can hold examinations and also evaluate answer scripts — both in the online mode, why can't we?"

Stating that no one knows as to when the COVID-19 pandemic situation will be controlled, Nath, said, "The authorities must immediately come up with a decision on examinations.

''And while taking the decision, they must not play with the health and life of the students in general. Moreover, the students should not lose an academic year."

He also added, "The maximum number of the masses should be vaccinated. The government must evolve a policy in this regard. Besides, there is a need to control price rise of essential commodities during the pandemic."
