GUWAHATI: Although the officials from the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) have evicted unlicensed vendors from various parts of the city from time to time, the whole operation has turned out to be a futile process as these vendors continue to re-occupy those positions just a few days after they are evicted.
Because of this, the problems caused by such illegal vending have not been solved in the city, and the number of such vendors continues to increase at an uncontrolled rate. The lack of proper markets and vending zones in multiple parts of the city has given birth to such illegal vending zones, which are a massive problem for pedestrians and motorists alike and contribute heavily to the traffic congestion in the city.
