GUWAHATI: The mortal remains of former State DGP Khagen Sarma were cremated at Nabagraha Crematorium here with State honours in the presence of DGP Kuladhar Saikia and other top police officers, on Saturday.
The former DGP breathed his last at a private hospital in Guwahati on Friday. On Saturday his mortal remains were first taken the Special Branch (SB) Headquarters of the Assam Police at Kahilipara, Guwahati. Late Sarma had a long stint in the SB headquarters in his career as a police officer. Officers and other staff at the SB headquarters paid homage to the departed police officer.
The body of Late Sarma was then taken to the Assam Police Headquarters (DGP office) at Ulubari in the city. There too, senior police officers and other staff members paid homage to Late Sarma. From there the body was taken to Nabagraha Crematorium at Silphukhuri in the city. The mortal remains were consigned to flames with State honours in the presence of the DGP and other top-level police officers.
