GUWAHATI: The ITSSA (Indigenous Tribal Sahitya Sabha, Assam) has appealed to the MHA (Ministry of Home Affairs), as well as the governments of Assam and Mizoram to maintain restraint and settle the boundary dispute peacefully at the earliest.

The ITSSA is a conglomerate body of eight indigenous tribal sahitya sabhas of the Bodos, Dimasas, Deoris, Garos, Karbis, Misings, Rabhas, and the Tiwas Sahitya Sabha of Assam.

The organization has also prayed to the Almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed souls and also condoled the bereaved families of the deceased, stated ITSSA president Gobind Taid and its general secretary, Kamala Kt. Mushahary.

The organisation has also expressed grave concern over the Lailapur incident along the Assam-Mizoram boundary on July 26 when six Assam police personnel and a civilian lost their lives. Many others were also injured due to the cross-border firing from the side of Mizoram.

The ITSSA has vehemently condemned "such heinous acts of the miscreants and demanded appropriate action to apprehend the culprits. The organization said that it in full solidarity with the Government of Assam at this juncture.
