First meeting of coordination steering committee of BJP-led alliance held in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: The first meeting of the coordination steering committee of the BJP, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), and United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) was held in the state BJP headquarters at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhawan in Khanapara on Friday. This committee was formed ahead of the forthcoming Lok Sabha election in 2024.

The meeting decided that a workshop and training would be organized for the spokespersons of these parties in the first week of October. The meeting also decided that joint press meetings between the three parties would be conducted on various issues. The meeting decided not to create controversies among them regarding various issues, which the three parties will keep an eye on.

The coordination steering committee was formed with 10 members. Three members from the BJP, namely, Pallab Lochan Das, Manoj Baruah, and Dhrubajyoti Maral, Four members from AGP, namely Manoj Saikia, Sunil Deka, Tapan Das, and Tularam Gogoi, and three members from UPPL, namely Lawrence Islary, Wilson Hasda, and Ranjit Basumatary,

The meeting was attended by all the members except BJP MP Pallab Lochan Das. He was not present, as he was attending the special parliament session.

Earlier, three meetings were held among the spokespersons of the three parties. The first spokesperson meeting for the BJP-AGP was held at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhawan on September 7. Again, the second meeting was held at AGP headquarters in Ambari on September 13. The third meeting was held at Bodoland Guest House, Khanapara, among the spokespersons of the three parties.
