Flood claims one life in Dibrugarh district of Assam

GUWAHATI: The flood situation remains unchanged in seven districts. One death was reported today in the Dibrugarh district. With this, the death toll due to floods in this season has risen to 11.

Two rivers, including the Brahmaputra, are still flowing above the danger level. According to the Central Water Commission (CWC)'s evening bulletin today, the River Brahmaputra was flowing above danger level at Neamatighat in the Jorhat district, and in Dhubri, while River Disang was flowing above the danger level at Nanglamuraghat in the Sibasagar district. The seven flood-affected districts are Charaideo, Darrang, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Golaghat, Jorhat and Sibasagar.

According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) flood report, 259 villages in 18 revenue circles remain affected. The number of affected people is 39,026.

Due to worsening of the flood situation in a few parts of the Sibasagar district, six relief camps have been set up where 787 people are taking shelter.
