Formation of State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Committee Underway

GUWAHATI: The process for the formation of the State BJP committee has got underway with the appointment of Phanindranath Sarmah as the State general secretary (organization) by party’s national president Amit Shah on Monday. Sarmah has also been given the charge of the same post in the Tripura State committee of the party.

In a letter to the party in the State, national BJP general secretary Arun Singh has let this known. Sarmah was the general secretary (organization) of the party in the State in the outgoing committee as well. The three-year term of the State committee of the party expired on December 24, 2019.

By now new booth, mandal and district committees of the party in the State have already been formed. The State committee of the party was supposed to be formed by December 15. However, due to some unavoidable circumstances it could not be formed, party sources said. The sources also said that the full new State committee of the party would be formed by the first half of January next.
