GUWAHATI: Making his plan to join the AJP (Asom Jatiya Parishad) at its December 16-17 convention public, former AASU (All Assam Students' Union) general secretary Lurinjyoti Gogoi has said that "only an uncompromising regional philosophy of politics can solve only the problems of Assam".

Addressing the media here on Monday, Gogoi said the series of "betrayal to the people of the State by political parties has led to a 'breach of trust' between the public and parties. With a view to putting an end to this breach of trust, I want to go ahead with an uncompromising respect for the region and its people. Time will say how far we can take this move. I've faith in me that I can do this as the people of the State desire.

"The dream of the people of the State is entwined with the journey of the AJP. I appeal to each and every person of the State to come under the flag of the AJP. The people of the State are fed up with the politics of temptation. They want qualitative politics now.

"In 2021 the people of Assam will get their dream government of regional forces that will ensure them justice and security."
