Former Chief Minister Late Tarun Gogoi's obsequial rites performed

GUWAHATI: The obsequial rites of former Chief Minister Late Tarun Gogoi have been performed here on Thursday.

The rites were performed with 'Naamkirtan' at the Ministers' Colony, in Guwahati.

Speaking to media Gaurav Gogoi, son of CM Tarun Gogoi, said, "It's not only my family who lost their dearest and loving member of the family. There are many families who have lost their dearest member of the family this year. While some have lost their lives fighting against COVID-19, some have lost lives in road accidents. This year 2020 has been a very tough year for all."

He further said,"Today we have arranged Naamkirtan on the occasion of obsequial rites of my father because we have capabilities. But there are several families who cannot afford to such rites. So I pray for them as well that God may give them too courage to stay strong."
