Foundation stone of community centre laid amid strict COVID protocol in Guwahati

The foundation stone-laying ceremony of a permanent centre to address community issues was held in Noonmati, Guwahati on Monday.

GUWAHATI: The foundation stone-laying ceremony of a permanent centre to address community issues was held in Noonmati, Guwahati on Monday. L R Vishwanath, former Director General, North East Zone, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, laid the foundation stone amid strict COVID protocol at the premises of Uttar Noonmati Shakti Peeth, stated a press release.

Built in 1992, the shrine holds immense spiritual significance and the Uttar Noonmati Kali Mandir Samiti, the committee which is also a non-profit organization, has been serving the community since its formation. The committee envisages more active community participation to disseminate information about social, health and community issues. The administration comprising of dedicated workers and volunteers proposes to communicate values and principles of peace, brotherhood and harmony among the people. Presently, the temple also acts as a reconciliation body to resolve local conflicts.
