Four drug peddlers with heroin, two air guns held in Guwahati

Personnel of the CGPD (Central Guwahati Police District) has apprehended four drug traffickers at Pub Saraniya, and also seized narcotics and two air guns from their possession.

GUWAHATI: Personnel of the CGPD (Central Guwahati Police District) has apprehended four drug traffickers at Pub Saraniya, and also seized narcotics and two air guns from their possession.

The operation was jointly conducted by the personnel of Chandmari Police Station, Noonmati Police Station and SOG (Special Operation Group) on Saturday.

The apprehended four drug traffickers have been identified as Jony Ali (28 years of age); Altav Uddin Laskar (27 years); Ashok Chetry (25 years); and Rahul Das (26 years of age). Jony is a resident of Pub Saraniya under Chandmari Police Station; Altav of Koilashpur under Noonmati Police Station; Ashok Chetry of Shastri Path under Chandmari Police Station; and Rahul Das — resident of Bylane No 1, Gopal Road under Panbazar Police Station. The team recovered 2.79 gram of heroin in 28 plastic vials, two air rifles and seven mobile phones from the possession of the traffickers. A case (571/2021 U/S 21(a)/29 NDPS Act) has been registered in this regard. Further investigation is on.
