GUWAHATI: The Assam High School Teachers' Association (AHSTA) has appealed to the government to implement the decisions regarding teachers' demands already published in the minutes of the discussions.
AHSTA president Khanindra Goswami said in a statement that the association and the government had discussions on bringing the high schools from where students have been appearing in HSLC (High School Leaving Certificate) examinations since January 1, 2006, or before within the purview of provincialization. Other matters that appeared in minutes of meetings are increasing teachers' earned leave up to 30 days from the existing ten days, paying an additional allowance of Rs 300 to each graduate teacher of high and higher secondary schools, etc.
He said, "We have other demands like regularization of the jobs of tutor teachers, upgrading the undergraduate posts of amalgamated schools to graduate posts and initiate the process of their recruitment, provincialization of posts of schools that were left out in the provincializing process in 2013 and 2021, if need be, by bringing an amendment to the relevant Act; giving the status of regular teachers to computer and contractual teachers, etc. We want the government to fulfil all these demands."
