GUWAHATI: The Gauhati High Court has directed the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) not to publish the final result of the recruitment process for 292 different posts in the engineering colleges and polytechnic institutions under the Department of Higher Education (Technical) without the court's permission.

This directive was issued during hearing of a Writ Petition filed by some aggrieved candidates, along with a linked Interlocutory Application filed by the APSC.

While restraining the APSC from publishing the final result, the High Court has, however, permitted the commission to publish/notify a fresh list of eligible qualified candidates having requisite eligibility from amongst the qualified candidates who have qualified the Language Test on Local Languages of Assam that was held on January 3, 2021 for the posts concerned, and to conduct the interview of those candidates. The permission to publish a fresh list of eligible candidate and conduct the interview was granted in view of the fact that as per an earlier order of the High Court during the pendency of the matter, the APSC carried out a verification of the eligibility of the candidates who had passed the written examinations and were shortlisted for the interview, and identified 41 candidates out of those 345 candidates who did not fulfil the requisite eligibility criteria as advertised on May 25, 2017.
