Gauhati High Court celebrates Constitution Day in city

The Gauhati High Court celebrated 'Constitution Day' in collaboration with the Gauhati High Court Bar Association and the Advocate Association at the Old Block premises on Sunday.

GUWAHATI: The Gauhati High Court celebrated 'Constitution Day' in collaboration with the Gauhati High Court Bar Association and the Advocate Association at the Old Block premises on Sunday.

In this regard, a programme was organized , where Justice Manas Ranjan Pathak, Justice Ajit Borthakur, Justice Manish Choudhury, Justice Sanjay Kumar Medhi, Advocate General of the Mizoram government Diganta Das, and other judges, senior advocates, court officers, and others were present.

In the programme, Justice Manas Ranjan Pathak gave the welcome speech, explaining the entire process of drafting the Constitution. Justice Ajit Borthakur explained regarding the importance of the Preamble of the Constitution and the fundamental rights and duties of the Constitution.

Justice Sanjay Kumar Medhi, in his speech, cited the significance of Constitution Day and reiterated the principles and ideologies of the Constitution. Advocate General of the Mizoram government, Diganta Das, explained the drafting process of the constitution and the role played by the judiciary.

At the end, the vote of thanks was delivered by Justice Manish Choudhury.

The Constitution was adopted by the constituent assembly on November 26, 1949, and the government of India declared November 26 as Constitution Day in 2015.
