GUWAHATI: A Writ Petition before a Single Bench of the Gauhati High Court, seeking deferment of the ensuing Combined Competitive (Main) Examination (CCE), 2020 of the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC), which is scheduled to be held on February 21, February 22, February 23 and February 27, is now likely to be heard by a Division Bench of the court on or after February 11.
The Single Bench noted that a Division Bench hearing an APSC examination-related Writ Petition recently allowed the APSC to conduct the CCE Main examination up to the stage of viva voce. Therefore, the Single Bench advised advocate Firuz Khan, who is appearing on behalf of the 11 petitioners, to request the court registry to post the matter before the Division Bench "on 11.02.2022 or any other suitable date."
It may be mentioned that the petitioners have contended that the CCE main examination schedule clashes with the UPSC Mains examination, as a result of which some candidates would not be able to appear in either examination. Moreover, the petitioners have submitted that "there has been unexplained delay in issuing e-admission Certificate and the authorities have also changed the pattern of examination very recently thereby causing serious prejudice to the interest of the petitioners."
