GUWAHATI: The Gauhati High Court has imposed costs of Rs 50,000 on the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) after a petitioner succeeded in establishing that the oil marketing company had earlier submitted a fraudulent document to influence the outcome of a petition in its favour.

The court also imposed similar costs on an individual named Jadab Borah, who was also a party to the case. Both the costs will have to be deposited with the Assam State Legal Services Authority.

The earlier litigation pertained to award of LPG distributorship.

The court, however, stated that the IOC would be at liberty to realise the costs from the erring officials concerned.
