GUWAHATI: In view of the ongoing COVID-19 situation, the Gauhati University (GU) will conduct all the pending examinations in Open Book System (OBS) in the online mode only, stated a university notification issued on Friday.

The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by GU vice-chancellor Professor Pratap Jyoti Handique. While the postgraduate (PG) examinations will be held from June 1 to 15, the undergraduate (UG) examinations will start from the 2nd week of June.

The university has also constituted a committee to streamline the system and to offer necessary suggestions to the Controller of Examinations. A detailed notification will be published by the Controller of Examinations in this regard soon which will also contain information about the SOPs (Standing Operating Procedures) for the online mode, the notification added.

In another notification, the university stated that the offices (both academic and administrative) shall remain open with effect from May 8 with 50 per cent of employees maintaining all COVID protocols. However, only limited activities will be carried out in the offices. Moreover, outside visitors are not allowed until further notice. The Office timing is 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
