GUWAHATI: In the third day of the Guwahati International Film Festival (GIFF), Kathanodi director Bhaskar Hazarika’s Aamis (Ravening), a film intertwined with the theme of love and food, portraying the desire for flesh and romance taking a dark turn, received immense support from the film lovers.
The film received a huge response from the audience, where people including the general public, the students from Guwahati University and Cotton University and different institutions seemed to be in queue an hour before the film even started. However, many people were disappointed, as even after being in queue for a long time, over 400-500 people were turned away due to capacity restraints. Such was the rave that many people watched the movie by sitting on the ground even.
Producer of the movie Shyam Bora said, “I wish, we could accommodate more people. However, we are going to release it soon in theatres and I hope that we receive the same response.”
Director Bhaskar Hazarika said that the film is going to be released on November 22. “Now that most of commercial cinema in Assam is achieving success, it is inspiring many to work in this field. Though, as long as the content of the movie is concerned, the film will not be everyone’s cup of tea. But there is no obscenity in the screen,” said Hazarika.
A student from Cotton University Manas Sonowal said, “I enjoyed watching the movie. I had never watched such a movie made in our Assamese language. Aamis has done it with something that is totally unexpected.”
