GUWAHATI: The GMC (Guwahati Municipal Corporation) has initiated remedial measure for the prevention of outbreak of coronavirus in the region.
All departments of the GMC has been issued necessary directives for taking precautionary measures like sanitization of the office premises and devices, cleanliness of market areas and surroundings and the public places. Health and Veterinary departments, Enforcement and other concerned departments of the GMC have already started massive drives all over the city to check unhygienic selling of meat, fish etc. including hotels, restaurants on daily basis and any noncompliance if any is viewed seriously and accordingly necessary actions are being taken immediately. Awareness generation and free health checkup camps in collaboration with Joint Director of Health Services, Kamrup metro has been organized for the GMC staff and sanitary workers as a prevention against the virus. Market complexes under the GMC have already been cleaned and monitoring process in underway. In the meantime, the GMC has also carried out fogging in different departments, government premises, public places, market areas etc. It is also extending awareness generation to the public through NGOs, SHG etc. Apart from above, it is ready to liaise with all the concerned departments to extend all types of support for the prevention of coronavirus.
