GMCH gears up to handle Japanese Encephalitis infections

The Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) has taken several steps to ensure that people with Japanese Encephalitis (JE) receive the best possible medical care.

GUWAHATI: The Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) has taken several steps to ensure that people with Japanese Encephalitis (JE) receive the best possible medical care. The Superintendent of the GMCH, Dr Abhijit Sarma said that the hospital has a dedicated 6-bedded High Dependency Unit (HDU) for patients suffering from JE. He said an additional 6 beds have been kept on standby, ready to be deployed when needed. He also advised people to exercise caution against mosquitoes, which are responsible for the propagation of this virus-caused disease.
