Gold worth Rs 60 lakh confiscated in Guwahati; 1 held by Government Railway Police (GRP)

The Government Railway Police (GRP) apprehended one Rawati Raman Soni for the possession of 997 grammes of suspected gold.

GUWAHATI: The Government Railway Police (GRP) apprehended one Rawati Raman Soni for the possession of 997 grammes of suspected gold. He had concealed the three pieces of suspected gold under his belt. The recovered gold is said to be worth around Rs 60 lakh.

Rawati Raman Soni, son of Bhagirath Prasad Soni, was apprehended by the authorities at about 6 a.m. on Friday. He was travelling on the Rajdhani Express with reservations for seat number 52 in coach A 2 from Morioni, Assam, to New Delhi. He is 46 years old and a resident of Bangalanagar in Bikaner, Rajasthan.

A case was filed in this regard, and a legal investigation has been initiated.
