GUWAHATI: The Sadou Asom Goriya-Moriya Deshi Jatiya Parishad (SAGMDJP) has appealed to the masjid committees of the State to list the poor people irrespective of their faith in their respective areas and pay them Fitra and Zakats during the Ramzan month so that such poor people don't have to roam about seeking Fitra and Zakats violating the COVID-19 lockdown rules.
Fitra and zakat are charity money given to poor Muslims during the Ramzan month.
The Parishad said that if anybody wants to pay fitra and zakat to the poor, he should go to the houses of the poor and pay them, but not allow the poor to come to his house.
It has further said that some people roam about during the Ramzan month with some receipt books seeking donations for, what they say, the construction of masjids and madrassas. The Parishad has appealed to all in the community not to pay cash to such people. If any of them wants to make for such purposes, he should deposit it in the bank account of the masjid committee concerned, the working president of the Parishad, Nurul Haque said.
