GUWAHATI: Government Railway Police (GRP) recovered a sizeable amount of cash from the Guwahati Railway Station this morning. A team under the command of the Officer in Charge of the Government Railway Police, Prasenjit Das, recovered Rs 57.50 lakh that was being transported by train.

Prasenjit Das said, "A trolley bag was recovered from the 12423 Rajdhani Express at around 7 a.m. On counting, the total seizure amounts to Rs 57.50 lakh. We are now questioning one person in this regard."

He also said that the bag was recovered from the possession of Rishikesh Kumar, who is a resident of Jharkhand. The exact source of the funds and the reason why such a huge consignment of cash was being moved like that have not been known yet, and an investigation has been initiated regarding the matter.
