GUWAHATI: The APCC (Assam Pradesh Congress Committee) has opposed the evaluation formula announced by the Education Minister for examinees of the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC)/Assam High Madrassa (AHM) and Higher Secondary (HS) examinations, 2021.

The party has stated that the government has taken an 'irresponsible' decision as the adopted evaluation formula given the COVID pandemic will not be accepted in future recruitments for government jobs.

"If the mark sheets and certificates cannot help a student to get a job, then such evaluation formula is a gimmick. The other States cancelled the examinations after not being able to conduct them due to the pandemic situation. Unfortunately, the Education Minister is not being able to understand the uncertainty and the mental pressure that the students and their parents are facing," said APCC general secretary and senior spokesperson Apurba Kumar Bhattacharya. The APCC spokesperson asserted that Education Minister's remarks regarding the examination are different than that of the Union Minister of Human Resource Development.

"The CBSE said that the passing certificate issued by the board will be of the same standard as previous years. The State government should roll back its decision and follow a similar assessment pattern like the Central board," demanded Bhattacharya.
