GUWAHATI: The AJYCP (Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva-Chatra Parishad) has alleged that the State government has failed to provide adequate relief materials to the affected people and to fight the natural calamities.
In a statement issued to the media on Sunday, AJYCP general secretary Palash Changmai said that floods claimed more live than corona pandemic in the State. "The State government wants to keep the problem of floods aside on the pretext of fighting the pandemic. The Prime Minister washed his hands of the problem of floods in Assam just by having a telephonic talk to the Chief Minster. The flood-affected people of the State need funds, not telephonic conversation. Let the Centre pump in adequate funds to the State for tackling the deluge and prove its accountability. We demand the Centre to release Rs 1,000 crore to the State to meet the damage caused by floods," Changmai said.
