GUWAHATI: GRP (Government Railway Police) personnel arrested a person – Manish Maurya – with fake notes with a face value of Rs 7.50 lakh from Kamakhya Railway Station here on Saturday.

According to police, Maurya, hailing from Uttar Pradesh, brought the fake notes all in 500-rupee denomination from Nagaon. The amount was packed in 16 bundles. He told the police that he was going to Mumbai from where a person asked him to transport it. He claimed to be a transporter of the fake notes. He had no ticket.

The GRP registered a case {11/2021 u/s 420/489(A) IPC} to this effect.
