GRP seizes gold bars from Rajdhani Express; Delhi-based youth arrested with consignment

Government Railway Police (GRP) seized about 822 grams of smuggled gold bars from the Delhi-bound Rajdhani Express at the Guwahati Railway Station today.

Guwahati: Government Railway Police (GRP) seized about 822 grams of smuggled gold bars from the Delhi-bound Rajdhani Express at the Guwahati Railway Station today.

Police also apprehended one Delhi-based youth in connection with the incident. The accused is Vishal Sukhadeo Dabade.

"We have apprehended one person in connection with the incident from Delhi-bound Rajdhani Express (12423). He is from Delhi. We have seized two gold bars, weighing around 822 grams. The gold bars had the shape of two-length scales hidden in his waist belt," said a GRP official.

The GRP suspects that the gold bars are from Myanmar, the GRP official said.
