Gunotsav 2022 rescheduled; to be held from April 26 to May 21

The timing of Gunotsav 2022 has been rescheduled and the event will now be held in three phases from April 26 to May 21

GUWAHATI: The timing of Gunotsav 2022 has been rescheduled and the event will now be held in three phases from April 26 to May 21, instead of commencing from April 20 and ending on May 12.

This was disclosed by officials of the Sarba Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), Assam.

The first phase, to be held on April 26, April 27 and April 28, will cover 10 districts - Baksa, Cachar, Chirang, Dhubri, Dima Hasao, Jorhat, Kamrup (Metro), Lakhimpur, Sonitpur and West Karbi Anglong. The second phase, to be held on May 10, May 11 and May 12, will cover 11 districts - Biswanath, Bongaigaon, Charaideo, Darrang, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Goalpara, Karimganj, Karbi Anglong, Nagaon and Nalbari districts. The third phase of Gunotsav, to be held on May 19, May 20 and May 21, will cover 12 districts - Barpeta, Golaghat, Hailakandi, Hojai, Kamrup, Kokrajhar, Majuli, Morigaon, Sivasagar, South Salmara-Mankachar, Tinsukia and Udalguri.

According to the officials, scholastic evaluation will be done of students from Class-I to Class-IX. However, in view of the fact that the new academic session will start in April, students will be given question papers which will pertain to one Class lower. Consequently, students newly-promoted to Class-II will be given questions papers meant for Class-I and so on for the other Classes. Further, those Class-V and Class-VIII students of the current academic session of 2021-2022, who will be in Class-VI and Class-IX respectively in the 2022-2023 academic session in some other schools, will have to appear for the Gunotsav evaluation in their original schools.

It may be mentioned that Grade-I and Grade-II Government officers, along with college teachers and post-graduate teachers, will be engaged as external evaluators in the event. Besides, retired Grade-I and Grade-II officers, retired reputed professors/teachers and Central Government employees may also be deputed as external evaluators.
