Guwahati: Assam Minister Parimal Suklabaidya Inaugurates Saraighat Wholesale Fish Market

The wholesale fish market which has become operational will facilitate direct selling of different varieties of fish by fish farmers to retail outlets across Guwahati.

GUWAHATI: Fisheries Minister Parimal Suklabaidya on Thursday inaugurated the Saraighat Wholesale Fish Market at Lokhra in Guwahati.

The wholesale fish market has been set up jointly by FISHFED, Assam and Saraighat Agricultural Society.

The wholesale fish market which has become operational will facilitate the direct selling of different varieties of fish by fish farmers to retail outlets across Guwahati.

A live fish tank and the weighing machine were also inaugurated by Minister Suklabaidya on the fish market campus.

Speaking on the occasion, Suklabaidya took to Twitter and wrote, "Attended the ceremonial event of the inauguration of Saraighat Wholesale Fish Market near Lokhra Chariali, Guwahati, which has been jointly set up by FISHFED, Assam & Saraighat Agricultural Society. Also inaugurated a Live Fish Tank & Weighing Machine at it's premises."

"The market operational from today, shall provide a directly platform to the fish farmers to sell to the retail outlets across Ghy & abolish the middlemen therein," the minister added.

Further, the Minister also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the flagship programme 'Pradhan Mantri Matysa Sampada Yojana' which has immensely benefitted fish farmers across the country, including Assam.
