GUWAHATI: In an unfortunate turn of events, after the recent child abuse case by the doctor couple, Dr. Walliul Islam and Dr. Sangeeta Datta, another abuse incident came to the forefront where a professor of B Barooah College and her husband tortured their 10-year-old domestic help.
According to sources, the professor, Dr. Sabrina Langthasa, bought the helper from Umrangso and has been working with her for the last two years. The incident was reported from Priya Exotica, in Bhagaduttapur. The victim was denied food and tortured physically, like beating her and putting a hot iron rod on her.
The victim was rescued by the NGO Assam Centre for Rural Development along with the Bhagadattapur Police under the Dispur Police Station from the house of the professor. The girl was found with physical injury marks on her body.
Meanwhile, in this connection, a case (1909/2023) has been registered at the Dispur Police Station.
