Guwahati: Body of Woman Found In City's Bamunimaidan Area

Guwahati: A body of a woman was found in a gunny sack in the city's Bamunimaidan here on Wednesday morning.

As per reports, the body identified as Mofida Begum was left behind on the side of the road at Bhaskar Nagar.

Upon receiving the information of the same, a team of police rushed to the spot and took the body under their custody.

The initial report suggests that is a case of murder, however, after the postmortem, the exact reason will be revealed.

Meanwhile, police have registered a case and have launched an investigation into the matter.

Notably on July 12, a body of a woman hailing from Assam was recovered from a house in Delhi.

The deceased woman was identified as Pinky Boro, a resident of Bachapathar in the Dhansiri sub-division of Golaghat in Assam.

According to reports, the woman worked at a national capital firm, Delhi. Meanwhile, the police have sent the body for post-mortem.

The exact cause of her death is yet to be ascertained.

Earlier on July 11, the city police on Monday recovered a half-decomposed body of a 28-year-old youth at Sarathi Path in Guwahati's Hengrabari area. The deceased has been identified as Dipankar Saikia.

Dipankar Saikia originally hailed from Lakhimpur and was staying at a rented accommodation in Sarathi path for the past couple of years. According to the preliminary investigation, police suspect that the victim might have committed suicide.

Sources informed that the youth working at the VLCC parlour in Christian Basti in Guwahati.
